Puppy First Steps Academy (8-18) Weeks.
Offering both at-home and in-facility components, our Preschool program ensures that you receive top-notch training, coaching, and management solutions tailored to your young puppy’s developmental stage.
Puppy Kindergarten (18 - 25 weeks)
Kindergarteners spend up to five days a week in our safe indoor environment, where they learn the behavioral basics through play, socialization, and R+ exercises.
Puppy First Steps Group Course (10-25 weeks)
Led by an experienced trainer, this group class gives you and your puppy the tools to deepen your relationship, improve communication, and build foundational training skills that will serve you both for years to come.

Prime Paw was an amazing place for our pup Milo to learn social skills. He went to puppy school from age 3 months to 6 months and we saw incredible progress with his training during that time. He would make excited noises when we got close to the facility and was always thrilled to see everyone once we got inside. The team would take the time to chat with us during drop off or pick up if we were having trouble with any puppy behaviors in the home, and their advice made sense and worked well. Milo learned how to settle really well. As a border collie mix, his energy was off the charts (at least to us new puppy parents!) and learning to settle on a mat at Prime Paw even with distractions around was a huge help to us, and one we continue to reinforce. Milo is now 10 months and a champ with both people and dogs. We get compliments on how well he plays with less experienced or smaller dogs, he's great at toning it down or rolling on his back to match the needs of his play partner. Thank you Prime Paw!

Our 4-month old, 5-lb puppy (a poodle/chihuahua/yorkie mutt) benefitted so greatly from taking the 1-month Prime Paw adolescent academy in April 2024. We balked, because of cost, but after meeting the staff and learning about the program, we committed. We're so glad we did! She LOVED it. She made a best doggy friend there who we still meet with every week for a play session at Dolores Park. But best of all, our dog (now 1-year old and 8.5-lbs) is such a badass, sweet, well-trained girl. Investing in her training taught her, and provided us, with the foundation and structure for her to thrive. Thank you James, and Stephanie, and the whole lovely Prime Paw crew!

Thank you so much, Prime Paw!! We've had a fantastic experience with our puppy--through preschool, kindergarten, and adolescent academy. James and the whole team are super knowledgable, patient, and truly interested in making life with our dog awesome. They are always down to problem-solve with us, and obviously just love dogs so much. Not surprisingly, the folks at Prime Paw are our puppy's favorite people. We've learned so much about dog behavior, safety, and training techniques from them, and now have skills we can carry forward on our own. Five months ago, I rescued a 10-month-old Great Dane who had a traumatic and limited start to her life. We picked her up and brought her home to our 3rd story walk-up, only to discover she didn't know how to go up or down stairs. And at 100 unwieldy pounds, I wasn't about to try to carry her upstairs, so we moved the car and camped in the garage with her, as I did my best to teach her how to go up and down stairs--with limited success. James, one of Prime Paw's truly excellent trainers, came after the doggo and I spent 7 days hanging out in the garage 24 hours a day, for a desperately needed emergency intervention. His can-do, "just let me show you how" approach was exactly what we needed, and even more amazing, one hour later he had me and the doggo upstairs and confident we could go downstairs and back up to the apartment when the necessary evening bathroom break was scheduled. It was an amazing and inspiring start, and really, if James hadn't arrived, we probably would have had to return her.
Ever since that first day with James, we have had Prime Paw trainers in our house every week, working with us and our rescue, helping us learn how to teach a very large and completely untrained adolescent Great Dane how to be a good companion, housemate, and friend. Prime Paw has truly changed our lives by enabling us to save a wonderful dog and has taught us a lot about dog training and ourselves along the way. Rescuing a dog is not always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding. And I can say that because we had Prime Paw's help.
